Does anyone else use Facebook? I found this great little application on it about a month ago called Farm Town. One of my cousins from the Chicago area introduced me to it once we became friends. I have been SO addicted to this new little game lately, it's just crazy. You'd think I'd have better things to do with my time, but it's just neat interacting with my friends and planting stuff. My kids even like to use it, though Peanut is too young to have an account all her own.
What does it do? Well, it started out where the animals are just decorative (though sometime soon we'll be able to milk the cows and collect chicken eggs, etc), you plant crops that can be ready in 4 hours to 4 days, if you don't harvest them in a timely manner they will go to waste, you can give your friends free gifts of trees or animals (flowers now too), and you can tend your neighbor's farms by watering their stuff, pulling weeds, or raking leaves. I have just recently discovered that you get more money for your crops if you hire others to harvest them (again, thanks to my fore mentioned cousin) and have been goofing off in the chat room (aka marketplace) whenever I'm not remodeling the farm since that discovery.
We discuss all of the possibilities (like the fact that we should be able to go to the beauty shop so we don't all look like clones) there and I try to get my character to do the hokey pokey and stuff just to see if any one's paying attention. Most of the time they don't. Either that, or they ignore me because I'm SO dang crazy???
When I got up this morning I had no idea that there were some changes that had been made to the game. Since I started playing flowers would be available in two weeks. They FINALLY were this morning, I got 6 of them as gifts today. (Thanks everyone!) Son was SO excited when he noticed all of the changes he just couldn't help but shout out all of the new animals and accessories that he saw while I was painting the last two walls of the kitchen.
I've been saving up for a greenhouse on the game, so I had a stash of money to splurge on a bunch of new toys. It'll be a while until I'm a high enough level to buy the greenhouse anyway, I have 3 levels to go still. I bought a grill, water pump, gated fences, and a doghouse so far and was planning on adding some rivers and bridges once I got everything satisfactorily rearranged.
I was on it remodeling my farm for the 6th time until I got booted off. Seems to happen more often than I like but I guess not so bad that I wouldn't want to go back. Now I can't even log back on. Hope the glitch doesn't last too long, I have flowers that need to be watered and pumpkins to harvest. They were 98% ready. Plus, my farm is in total disarray and I don't like it that way.
Does anyone else play Farm Town or use Facebook? I think I like Facebook better than Myspace.

Thanksgiving Plans
I wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving spent with your family and friends. I think that this is one of the best holidays, well Christmas too (not for the gifts though).
Many people are travelling to various places for their festivities. We will be staying close to home since Cheesehead has to close tonight and open Friday morning. MIL and BIL will be coming over tomorrow.
I will enlist the children into helping me clean the house before our company arrives. After the work, we will be heading outside to roast hotdogs and marshmellows over the fire pit. We need to try to make some lye for my soap making project, so we'll not only have some fun, but we'll be getting some work done too! We will also play games and watch movies today. I don't think we'll do much other than the cleaning though. We may make some Swedish Christmas crafts for the kids to give their cousins on Christmas.
Most of the preparations are made already so I just have to relax and wait for them to come. Well, there is the small matter of cooking the turkey I suppose, but that's a pretty easy task to accomplish. I invited mom over too, but she has to work tomorrow so she will be joining some friends for their festivities.
Our house in MN has had two showings this week, but still no offers are being made. Only two weeks left, it will be nice to have less to worry about. It would be even nicer if it sold today but I'm not going to hold my breath or anything.
I want to get to Menards for the Friday sale early since they have a few things on sale that we still need for our bathroom. I hope they don't sell out of the things I want before I get there. No gifts left to buy since we aren't doing muchfor Christmas this year, but I think we'll put up the Christmas tree this weekend too.

Book Tag Fun
I love to read so imagine my delite when two of my favorite blogs (Nola at Alamo North and Dee from Red Dirt Ramblings) were both playing a rowsing game of book tag. I think it was Kathi that tagged me a while back, too but I procrastinated as usual. Sorry but I've been a bit busy lately. Never too busy to read though, just too busy to write about it!
What am I reading now? I am in the midst of reading about 5 books right now. I bet some of you probably may think that makes me just a bit crazy, but you never know what you'll be in the mood to read at any given time so I like to read a variety. I have three books on the couch by me right now. Two of them were in a pile together so it was a toss up of which one to choose.
For the games Kathi and Dee were playing we're supposed to open the book to page 56 and write down the 5th sentence as well as the next 2-3 sentences to give the readers some context of what is going on.
I actually grabbed the one on top of the pile Your Country Kitchen by Jocasta Innes first. When I opened it to page 56 and picked the 5th paragraph I decided there really wasn't enough context to get the idea of what was going on even after adding the next 2 or 3 sentences as directed. What was it talking about? Making your own beer.
I grabbed the other book in the pile which was titled Landscaping with Herbs by Jim Wilson. Only three sentences on that page captioning pictures. Hmm, I guess I'm not doing very well! I suppose I could just turn further in the book, but would that be considered following the directions then? Next book, please!
The last book on the couch is These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Let's hope this one works out better than the other two! Jackpot. Here's what the book says. Tommy smiled, so she gave him a spelling book and a new piece of chalk. When he had copied his lesson, she praised his writing and told him that he could now study his spelling from the board. She gave the spelling book to Ruby.

1. This is the last of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books I have to read.
2. I didn't read them all in order, I read the ones I owned first.
3. This one is borrowed from the local library as are the other two books on the couch. I own the other two books I'm currently reading, one is in my subbing bag out in the van and the other is on my bedside table.
4. I like to read books about Star Wars. Except the x wing squadron books, for some reason I can't get into those. I have a large library of Star Wars books.
5. I use receipts as book marks in the books I read even though we own a bazillion book marks. I never seem to be near a bookmark when I need one, but receipts are usually very close by. Most of those receipts are really the printout slip reminding me of when the book is due back though so I suppose I shouldn't really call them receipts.
6. When we buy books I tend to buy used books. They're cheaper than new and the funds usually benefit a good cause so it's a double bonus.
7. I don't really have a favorite type of book to read. I'm an ecclectic type of person and my book choices reflect that fact. I tend to choose mostly spiritual, self help, diy, gardening, crafting, home decorating, non-fiction, science fiction, education, and children's books.
We're supposed to tag 5 (or 7) people but I am going to just tell whoever want to play to go right ahead and play along.

Updates
Geez, things have been SO crazy around here. I'll try to get a few more details up about these events later, but it seems that many of you are worried about me. HOW SWEET! I'm super tired from the whirlwind of activities once again. Since it's 11:15pm I think I'm becoming a pumpkin as we speak! Just a few scant details now.
First of all, the bee sting is almost completely gone. I looked up some info online and treated it as if it were an allegry. I took benadryl and rubbed allergy creme and hydrocortizone on it. Now it's almost completely gone, it just itches a bit. Must have been a localized allergic reaction.
Tomorrow we're planning on trying to get the shed painted. All 4 of us so we can hopefully make a trip to the UP Thursday. Wish us luck! Friday and Saturday we'll be building a deck for the shed, Sunday there's a picnic we're invited to. No specific plans for Monday yet, but I'm sure we'll find something to keep us busy. God forbid we sit down and rest for a day or something!
Just got back from helping out MIL and helping her with her household projects. It's been hard for her without FIL this last year. The projects weren't really time consuming, there were just a lot of them!
My son won his first football game, it was a blowout. Score was 26-0 at 1/2 time so they weren't allowed to score any more points in the second 1/2. What a fiasco getting ready for the game too. Got a sunburn.
Went to the MN State Fair yesterday too. Got another sunburn.

Just for you Anna!
Geez, Anna you make me sound like some building-leaping super hero or something! I have to justify that heroic image by informing you that I use the excalibur blade. It's true I tell you! It's the name of my hedge trimmer. LOL. I was going to have Cheesehead take a picture of me holding it for you, but my camera wasn't working. Probably protesting all the pictures I took with it today!
Okay, now on the the real reason of this post, a game of tag.
Anna has asked me to tell six random things about myself. I don't know 6 random things but I do know 6 incredibly awesome things. If you can handle it--read on!! But first, the rules----

You wanted randomness? Here goes!
1. Peanut and I went to The Bee Movie last week. My favorite quote from the movie was said by a mosquito turned lawyer. When someone said they didn't know he was a lawyer, he replied "I was already a blood-sucking parasite, all I needed was a breifcase." .
2. At one time about 3 years ago we had 15 pets in our house. One dog, three cats, a gerbil, and 10 fish.
3. I was the student of the year after attending my tae-kwon-do classes for less than a year. It is engraved right on it "for outstanding dedication". I went to classes every day that year I was 14 so I could attend both child and adult classes, even in the summer. I got my purple belt before quitting. I would have stayed in it, but it conflicted with my pep band schedule.
4. I got my first job when I was 11 years old. I was a news paper carrier in Brainerd, MN. I have worked since that point, including helping my parents manage The Marywood Apartments in Monticello.
5. I've been a member of the same church since we moved to the Monticello area in 1988. I was confirmed, graduated from high school, got married, baptized my children, my neice and nephews were baptised in that church, and I had my father's funeral in that church. I'm having a hard time letting go. I keep intending to transfer my membership to another church over here, but I am so indecisive. I've never had to choose a church home before, I just went where ever my parents told me to. I suppose two years really should be long enough for me to make a decision....
6. I quit having children because I was afraid I would have more problems with future children.
My first pregnancy I was on bedrest for 6 weeks with pre-eclampsia. Labor was induced 6 weeks early because of my highly elevated blood pressure. He was 4 pounds 6 ounces when he was born. He was small because of the high blood pressure.
My second pregnancy I had placenta previa. I was on hospitalized bedrest (because of early labor) for two weeks with her before going into unstoppable pre-term labor.
If I had lived 100 years ago I probably would have died when I had both of them! What more could go wrong? At least I had one of each. I quit while I thought I was ahead.
I'm going to pull a cheat and not tag anyone though. Sorry Anna. You don't mind, do you? I think this game has made it's rounds for now. I'll save my tags for this winter when we're all cooped up out of our gardens in our boring houses looking for something entertaining to do with our time.

I am currently reading "LET IT ROT! The Gardener's Guide to Composting" by Stu Campbell. I decided since I want to be successful with my new compost pile, I should see if I can find out more information about what it is I want to achieve.
In his book, Stu says:"Spread whatever compost you have been making over the summer over the entire growing area. You can do this any time after the first killing frost and before the soil becomes frozen hard. It is not a requirement that it be turned or tilled right into the garden; it will do the soil a lot of good if you just let it lie there over the winter."
I plan on learning much more about this new journey towards living a greener life. I hope to find out much helpful earth saving information.

6 unimportant things about me
1. My huband says I am the cheapest person he knows. I am very good at stretching a dollar, I can be VERY creative when I need to get a little bit of extra money.
2. I am a kid at heart. I love to play with my kids and just act like them. Who says you can't be a 33 year old kid anyway? I can get just as caught up in the game as they do! We play lots of games, both board games AND video games. My favorite video games are Harvest Moon and Zelda. I'm pretty good at those, not so much the others. They're still fun to play even if I end up loosing!
3. The kids and I LOVE to watch movies together. We watch all kinds of them. I guess our top types are Feature Films for Families, Disney movies, and Star Wars movies. We love to have popcorn and cheese when we watch them too! I even bought them those plastic popcorn containers.
4. I am very handy. I am good at fixing things that most people would just throw away nowadays. I don't like to add to the landfills if I can get something to work again.
5. I love window shopping. It's ALMOST as fun as shopping for real, except you don't have the credit card bills to pay coming a month after the trip. We often go on family excursions to Wausau and come back wihout having spent much money excpet for lunch.
6. My favorite subjects in school were science related. I like plants, animals, rocks, space, and studying the human body. I find the natural world is fascinating!
