Look what followed me home!

Well, there's still snow on the ground, but look what I found! Usually I don't buy plants when it's still so cold, but I just couldn't resist these beauties. I know it doesn't give me a whole lot of variety, but at least it will add a nice splash of color during the daylight hours when it's warm out! Spring IS here.

No, I didn't leave these poor darlings in the snow any longer than it took to take the picture! I'm not a TOTAL monster. I just thought it would make a fun idea to post about.

Their faces are hidden to conceal their identities???

Thank you for stopping by. Please leave me a message and a backlink. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Isn't it funny how you are just now buying pansies as I am pulling them out because it is getting too warm here.

Cinj, yesterday my coworkers and I unloaded three racks of pansies. I just love their sweet scent and happy faces!

Debbi- It gets too hot for pansies? I guess I've noticed the smaller ones do better throughout our summer, but I've never had to pull them out until they die in September/October. That thought never even occured to me!

GG- I know! They are so bright and cheerful looking, aren't they? I wish we had more colors and varieties available, but at this point I'm just happy to have any flowers at all! I had this luscious hot pink one all picked out, but I couldn't find a color pack that looked just right with it.

I'm planning on using these lovelies in some hanging baskets I'll be planting later.

LOL on concealing their identities! Sometimes you just have to buy something blooming, don't you?!!! I totally get it.

When nothing else is blooming, it's a must! If I had my stuff for starting my own seeds in my portable green house I could have started my own.

They are beautiful! I would have to have them too. Did you know that pansies have a chemical in their leaves that acts like a antifreeze? The flowers will freeze but the leaves will not. So they will bloom again when temps rise about freezing. Violas will bloom for us all summer but pansies burn up after June. What is your favorite flowering annual?

Wow. I didn't know that. No wonder they're the only plants out there right now. I've always wondered about that.

Cheesehead hasn't said anything about the color choice yet. I'm not sure he's even noticed. They're Viking colors (I like to goad him a little bit since no one gives him a hard time about being a Packer fan. I think he secretly misses it. So I try to tease him instead.)

So, the small ones are violas and the big ones are pansies? I guess I never though there was much of a difference. I guess you learn something new every day!

Favorite annual? That's a tough one! I have a favorite perrineal because they smell wonderful, they bloom all summer, and they come in gorgeous color. Annuals on the other hand are a whole 'nother story. I like the double impatiens because they remind me of a rose, but they don't do well in the intense sun at the front of my house. I enjoy pansies and petunias because of their wonderful colors. Geraniums have wonderful clumps of flowers that add a lovely burst of color to any yard. Begonias are such pretty little flowers too. I like to buy ones with different laeves to mix my arrangements up a bit. Coleus have such lovely leaves. I could go on and on! I can't pick just one of them.

Melanie, hope you got enough sleep now so you aren't so darn tired. I love the color combo!
