What color are YOUR fire hydrants?

Now that the snow is melting off a bit the fire hydrants are easier to see. I was just thinking how MOST fire hydrants that I have seen were red. All throughout Wisconsin though you see fire hydrants like this. Complete with Green Bay Packer colors.

I took this picture in Tomahawk last Thursday when we were there to go to Bambino's, a little pizza buffet place downtown. MMMM, was it good!

What do your fire hydrants look like? Anything special out there?

Thank you for stopping by. Please leave me a message and a backlink. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Nothing special here in Tennessee.

Hi Cinj, they're red here although I have seen one or two that are different. I don't know how those folks got permission to paint them another color but they did.

I think you might have to ask permission. In some little towns, people have painted them to look like children. You have prompted me to look around when I go downtown later. ;-)

I always thought they were red but now that you ask I am going to check them out!

How's it going up there?

Hey Cindy, Saturday as we were going to get mulch, I noticed a bright lime green one. We even had a conversation about this very thing afterward. Matt said they're different everywhere. Some red, some yellow, etc. Wouldn't it make more sense for every hydrant to be the same color? I just assumed they were all yellow. -Jen :)

I know! I guess they're usually either red (or now that I think about it yellow) except in WI. The whole town has them painted that color, not just a few select locations. It would definately make sense to have them all the same color but I guess that thought may not occur to some people.

What did you find? I'll have to check in with everyone! Sounds like I gave some of you a mission today.

There are a couple of solid dark green ones in Rhinelander too.

Sorry grogal, no spam needed here!

Here, in Southern California, ours are yellow. We have one across the lane from us, which, living in a fire zone, is a good thing! Around town I've seen them painted (legally?) to look like people or animals and then we have purple ones that mean it's recycled water suitable for landscaping use only.
