Do NOT Copy

That was a Close Call!

Look what happened to the house the bluebirds had made their nest in. I guess this has to go under the heading "timing is everything".

It's a good thing the babies fledged last week or someone could have been seriously injured. The rope must have gotten too frayed and it just gave out. Now I have another thing to add to my "to fix" pile which seems to be growing increasingly larger every day.

That shed is taking up entirely too much of my outside work time. You can see that I also haven't weeded my gardens in a while. To be fair though I've really only had the last week for weeding here since the bluebirds went all protective on me. Then there's the bird bath that is still waiting to be cleaned and football is supposed to start next week. I don't think I'm ever going to get caught up!

Thank you for stopping by. Please leave me a message and a backlink. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Cindy

Good thing those little ones got out of there in time... yikes! We were thinking about putting up a bird box but decided it would be too easy for the neighborhood stray cats to get at them. Maybe we'll figure something out for next year...

That was a close call Cinj! I guess the birds flew the coop just in time. Pardon my pun. :) I hope you get a chance to catch up with your garden tasks soon. It's not always easy to juggle everything in our life.

Wow lucky thing the birds all few off. That would have been a tragic thing for them to go through. Now you will have something to do this winter while you are inside(-:

Shibaguyz- Nice of you to come by. I've heard if you put a birdhouse on a metal pole it makes it hard for predators to get to the birds, maybe you could try that? We're working on building some bird houses and feeders here.

PG- LOL! You know I actually debated using that line in my post. Cheesehead wants me to go buy some roundup to take care of the weeds, but I just don't like resorting to chemicals. I've recruited the kids to help with shed painting so it's not as slow going as it could have been.

Cindee- Isn't it though?

Ha! You should see my list, I've got LOTS to do inside this winter. Probably the next 3 winters too, but at least I know I can't be stuck out in the garden during those times so I have some time for a balancing act.

Deb- I know! I just shudder to think what COULD have been. EEK!

Sounds like you have some catching up to do. Me too!

For me it is the mockingbirds that must have nests they're protecting. For they nosedive at anyone or anything that goes outside my door. I still haven't nailed down the other birdhouse when Clyde my cat knocked down a house with wren babies. Killed them all on impact. I suppose the weather just rotted the wood. Had to get another. So I have much on my "to do" list too!

Wow, they did fledge in time! Always an unfinished project in the works around here! That’s just normal...

I cannot remember if I told you or not, but our bluebirds hatched about a week ago. They have three little babies with this brood which is brood number 3! We do have busy bluebirds!

are we ever supposed to get "caught up??" ;-) I hope not because I'm always behind! Glad your baby birds were already gone too.

Well that stinks...and it's always something isn't it? I have a long list too. Glad your babies got out safely or at least we think safely.

Oh my goodness, talk about timing! Do you think they knew they had to get out of there? Your weeds aren't too bad, I hope you try the newspapers underneath your mulch next year and you will hardly have to worry about weeds, only if you miss one to begin with :).

I don't know who coined the phrase "Lazy days of summer", but they sure weren't talking about you! (Or me) Be sure to have some fun in the midst of all that catching up! :)

Tina- Yes, always so much to do and so little time. Sigh!

Brenda- Oh no, how sad you must have been! I want to make some bird houses. Maybe I'll get to it one of these days....

Barbee- Glad to be of service to you. We're all set for practice to start.

Skeeter- Your bluebirds sure are busy over there. My goodness! I think I may have seen a baby finding food in the yard the other day.

Kathleen- Apparently not, huh? My list seems to get longer every day even when I'm making progress.

Anna- Yes. I suppose I should get it picked up off the ground one of these days huh?

Kathi- I was thinking about newspapers, but haven't done anything about it yet. So many weeds, so little time!

Lisa- We always have time for fun around here. We went to Kung Fu Panda for the $1 movie the other day. It was better than I expected it to be. Nope, we sure aren't lazy, are we?
