Weird Question

My mom told me that someone bought the house finally. It's about time, we moved out almost 3 years ago now!

They must have put in the offer right as it went into foreclosure. I'm assuming this since they were already moving in a couple of weekends ago. It was supposed to be "officially" foreclosed on December 16. We never heard anything about it from the bank and had trouble getting the utilities straightened out because the bank refused to notify them and I couldn't just shut everything off because of the cold weather rules. (Yet another mess!)

Anyway... the neighbor told us these people moved in a little while ago.

(Sorry about all of the rambling, but I think that some people are wondering about what happened to our house.) My question is... would it be stupid of me to write the new owners a letter about where to find everything and what some of the stuff is for? (ie fertigation tank, liquid fertilizer, NOT asking Green Lawn for sprinkler system maintenance, etc)

MN house chapter CLOSED!!!! FINALLY! Hurrah! (Though I still may share my former gardens if I can ever get the pictures from the old computer.)

Thank you for stopping by to chat with me. Please leave me a message, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Cindy

We were given a lot of that kind of information from the previous owners when we bought our house and found it very useful. It would be nice to send them a letter.

I don't know the whole situation, but it seems like it would be a nice gesture on you part to offer that kind of information.

I have to agree, Cinj. When I bought this house, the previous owner sleft me a long list of all the repairmen, maintenance people, and companies they used, with phone numbers. It was a real godsend. And speaking fo godsends, thank heavens you can finally close the book on this!

If I were the new homeowner I'd love it if the last homeowner took the time to do this for me. I say go for it.

Hi Cindy,
I think a note to the new owners would be really nice. I am sure they would appreciate it.
I am so happy for you that it is finally over and now you can move on!

It would be very thoughtful of you. I did something similar when we moved 2 yrs ago; I sent the new owner a note explaining what was planted in the flower beds. I surely didn't want to drive by and see that they'd mowed the rows of narcissus beside the sidewalk, thinking they were weeds! The new owner sent me a note thanking me and inviting me to visit when she got things remodeled and moved in.

OK, I wrote the letter to them. I told them about the daphne next to the front door that needed some tlc to spring back into shape. I couoldn't sleep so many things were flying through my head to tell them. I think it ended up being about 4 pages long. I thought about including an illustration of plants and locations but I'm not a great artist. If they ask about other plant names I may attempt it.

Hi Cinj, that is good news. Yes, I would write and tell them about that stuff. If they disregard the letter, so what? Look forward not back, words to live by. :-)

You are definitely a thoughtful and generous person Cinj to think of doing that after all the heartache you've been thru concerning that house. I'm so glad that chapter is over. I hope it's the beginning of better days for you.

I might be the only one to say....hold off. All the disclosure papers will tell them what they need to know. However, If you need to do it for you, to put that final period on the situation, than yes. That's what you did and who knows, maybe they will write back. Wouldn't that be nice? Glad it's done for you, sounds like something I'd rather not go thru.

Hi! I don't think I'm all that kind, just doing what I'd want someone else to do to me. The "new" flowers on my header are some pink weigela from the house I left behind.

Dawn- They bought it from the bank, not us. Unless the bank kept and passed on one of the 4 previous disclosures we filled out, the new owners may not have been given the whole picture. You know how bakns can be!

Personally I don't think the bank knows what end is up. You'd think I'd be done with this, but I can't get them to pay the almost $300 in outstanding utilities that have been incurred since the foreclosure, so even though I'm "done", I'm not.

The bank tells me some management company XYZ took over the management of the property after it was foreclosed and I have to call them to take care of the problem. They give me the number of the company on file.

I call said management company and they have no record of our property (or ANY in the same town). They even did a statewide search to double check.

I called the bank back and was transferred to somewhere that I had to leave a message. I waited ALL DAY and there was no call back.

The saga continues....

I cried for you when I read this. Bravo! I would just forget about the $300. God will bless you richly beyond that.

Big hugs Cinj and look how many friends you made in the process. We got to know you and admire so many things about your life and family.

I think you won!
