Well, it's official. We've put our house on the market. I know that now is not the best time to sell and if my husband didn't have such a long commute we probably wouldn't even consider selling right now. I am hoping that all of the hard work we've done here isn't lost on someone trying to snatch up a good deal. We have decided to put it on and wait and see what happens, we just have to have faith that everything will work out for the best. I really don't know what else to do!
It wouldn't be a big deal having a long commute if he worked an 8 hour day or something. There are some days that he works open to close, that's 14 hours. Add two hour commute to that and I get to see him for about 5 minutes before bed. That's not the kind of life I want to lead forever. Something needs to change!
We are going to go out today and see what kinds of places are on the market down in Antigo. I am not worried about finding something we like since we always change whatever we find anyway, I guess you could say it's a hobby of ours. I am more worried about selling the house we live in right now. I will not end up like we did last time!
I guess I'm telling you because I could use a few prayers that our situation will work itself out. Also looking for home sale tips and house hunting ideas. What do you do?
Thank you for stopping by to chat with me. Please leave me a message, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Cindy

More changes for your family! I agree seeing your husband for 5 mins a day wouldn't work well at all! I hope you sell your house fast and can move where you want to go(-:
Good luck in the house hunting, hope you find something much closer to where your husband works.
Good luck on your search Cinj and I hope you get a real good deal on one and top price for yours. So many are lucky to have good jobs now so I guess the families should stick together on making things easier for your hubby. Think of it is a new potential blessing.
Thanks Cindee. I'm hoping that the tax credit helps us to get a buyer. We'll have to wait and see.
Linda- We found some super great houses today, I could see myself in several of them. Now we just have to wait and see what happens with this house.
Lona- Me too! Many of the homes we've looked at have been on the market several months. We'll just have to hope that isn't the way it works for us. He's worked there for 5 months now and it's really getting on my nerves.
Cinj girl I am sorry you have to go through this process again .. I didn't realize your husband had such a long commute .. that is such an aggravation to you all.
Hopefully the market will be much better for you this time and things will go smoothly !
I wish you the best of luck and a quick resolution to this .. that you find just the right home and stay there for a very long time !
Joy : )
Joy- He didn't have a long commute until he got his most recent job transfer in October last year. Thanks, I hope everything works out too. Time will tell I suppose...
The best advice we ever got about selling a house came from the realtor who helped us sell ours when we were in WI & it was in MN. You can either sell for the most you can get... OR you can try to sell quickly. You can't really do both (esp in this market!), so you have to choose.
We chose to try for a quicker sale & it sold within the first month. Sure, we could've probably gotten more out of it, but we would've been paying mortgage all those months while it was on the market and the stress relief from selling it quickly was AWESOME.
So, if you want to sell it quickly, make your peace with underpricing it a bit. You can always put stuff in storage & rent an apartment while you look in your new town if you have to.
You all are in my prayers, Cinj! I hope the new buyers appreciate all the creativity and hard work you and Cheesehead put into upgrading the house and property. Let's hope they know how lucky they are! This time, let's hope for a good price, a quick sale, and an even more wonderful home for the four of you!!!---Silence
Bless your heart! It's stressing to buy and to sell, and trying to do both! I've still got boxes to unpack from when we moved 2 1/2 years ago!
Mrs H- So true. Thanks for checking in, it's been a while. We priced so it SHOULD sell quickly but you never know with the market we're in.
Silence- Thanks, I hope so too. I think we have an even more wonderful home picked out already but we aren't going to do anything until we get everything all figured out.
Nola- I know what you mean! I've got some boxes that are still packed from the last move coming up to 4 years ago now. Guess what I'm going to do with those. Yup, straight to Goodwill they go!
Hi Cinj, I just wanted to say my thoughts are with you as you sell/buy and move to a new location. It's not just the house, you'll be going to an unfamiliar area with all the adjusting that goes with that. I wish you guys all the best. It may be stressful now, but when you settle closer to your husbands work, I'm sure it will all be worth it;-)
Hi Jan. Thanks for the well wishes. Not one person has looked at our house yet, so I'm not sure that it's going to happen. Add that to the fact that we've got some huge financing hurdles to jump through and my husband's ready to give up already. I'm trying to have more faith than that since we aren't selling this house to make a profit or anything but things aren't looking very rosy right now. I love this house, but I love my husband more so I'm going to press on and try to have faith that everything will work out.
Cinj, hon, you got 'em... the prayers that is. I truly wish special good will come to you. You both deserve it. We have greatly enjoyed watching what you have done to your current home; and it and the yard are so nice. Now, we are headed for another "adventure" with you. Hope you kept some of the best packing boxes :)
