Family Fun

When we first started playing the kids' new Wii we hadn't actually figured out that we could make our own characters and save our records. Okay, I'm a little slow. You should know that by now!

Anyway, I did the BEST job of bowling that night. In real life bowling the best score I can remember ever getting was 131. The Wii enabled me to bowl a 245 game. Since I couldn't save it on the system because I was using a guest mii, I took a picture of the score as proof.

See? There it is. 245 to 88. Awesome.

I can't help but think this may set people who have never bowled before for a big dissappointment when they go to a bowling alley and reality sets in with the balls curving into the gutters and how heavy the ball starts to feel after a while. Don't EVEN get me started on the shoes!

The first time they used the system we only had one controller. Son had his uncle play and he broke out into a sweat. I wonder if this game will help my family become more active.

While it may seem counter-intuitive to penny pinchers all over the world I can't help but think that this investment will be beneficial to our pocket book. The initial outlay does cost much more than a trip to the bowling alley would be, but I think the savings will really add up. We can use it to hone our skills for golf, bowling, tennis, (& more) not to mention the money we can save on fitness classes if I'm able to lay my hands on a Wii Fit.

Then there's the tantrums I'm hoping I won't have to listen to anymore because the kids will be more used to playing the games when we actually go out in public, that in itself may be worth the costs of the system.

Thank you for stopping by. Please leave me a message. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Cindy

Cinj, I got a wii and the wii fit for my birthday. I love it. Just a little warning about the fit. It knows when you don't work out and tells you about it. It also will give you a little lecture if you gain a pound or two. Anyway, enjoy the games, we do. I hate real bowling and love to wii bowl.

I love reading about the things you young moms come up with that were not a part of my world when I had children. Cinj, I think you are smart. Good for you!

So glad this is working for you and your family...for fun AND fitness:)
We have a Wii, and got a Wii-Fit for Christmas this (well, last--2008) year...my kids say it's great. I still haven't tried it yet:( I have a lot of aches & pains, and disc issues in my neck & lower back, that are keeping me from that at the moment. I take Lyrica, which helps w/the pain, but everytime I do anything serious (like moving!!) I pay for it later on. No, I'm not lying around doing nothing...but, I'm having a bit of a difficult time doing what I want to do. I'm worried about gardening. Last summer I couldn't do much, and this yr. is likely to be similar. I get injections for the pain and need to get in there and get some more.
Sorry for the whine.
Do you have any cheese to go with it?

Debbi- Just what I need, extra motivation. LOL. Well, we haven't actually gotten one yet but I hope to soon.

Barbee- Isn't it just crazy how much the world changes? My kids seem to act as though video games have always been around. They seem to find it unbelievable when I tell them I didn't own a system until I was in high school.

Skeeter- That's for sure!

Tina- It is lots of fun for us.

Jan- Oh no, I can imagine how hard that must be. MIL has arthritis and has trouble getting her legs to do what she wants them to. I feel so bad for her whenever I see how much trouble that she has. I hope that they're able to figure out ways to help you more.

Yes, I DO live in dairy land so we've got plenty of cheese around here.

We got WII and om gosh it does get you active, not sure of the wii fit as I don't need someone to tell me if my weight is on or off!

I've heard the Wii is super fun but we don't have one. My neighbors bought their Mom one for Christmas and she loves it (in her eighties). One of these days we may have to break down and try it out!

I guess I am old or perhaps because I have no children in my home any longer...xboxes and wii...I have seen the commercials for wii as an exercise program and think it's a great thing. I work with a woman who play guitar hero and has a large number of instruments as well....go figure! The good side is families are becoming families again!
